Manukau Urban Māori Authority (MUMA)
Legal entity: Incorporated Society.
Primary purpose/kaupapa: MUMA runs an extensive network of initiatives to assist development of the Māori community in South Auckland. These programmes address the range of both social and economic problems faced by the urban Māori community, namely:
- Developing strong female leadership (Toitu Te Wahine)
- Developing parents as both teachers and role models (PAFT)
- Ensuring continuance of education (He Ara Tika)
- Ensuring financial security (Budget and Counselling Services)
- Reintegrating former inmates back into the community
